Curriculum
Dr. Carlo L Romanò started his surgical activities at the Gaetano Pini Orthopaedic Institute in Milano, Italy, in 1993, where he served at the specialized Trauma, Hip, Knee and Foot departments and, at the same time, at the Septic Unit.
In 2008 he founded and chaired the Center of Reconstructive Surgery and Osteo-articular Infection at the Galeazzi Research Orthopedic Institute in Milano, Italy. In the same Institute he founded and co-chaired the Milano Biofilm Research Center.
Past-President of the Italian Study Group on Osteoarticular Infections and Past-President of the European Bone and Joint Infection Society (E.B.J.I.S.), he co-founded the Infection Committee section within the Societe Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopaedique e Traumatologie (S.I.C.O.T.) and within the Italian Society of Orthopedics and Trauma.
In 2017 he co-founded the World Association against Infection in Orthopedics and Trauma (W.A.I.O.T.), the largest international scientific association focused on bone and joint infection management, where he has been serving as Secretary General since its foundation.
